Rachael King, Founder and Director of Sunshine Sisterhood, is a Registered Nurse with an extensive background in disability advocacy.
Rachael has a particular interest in empowering women and girls through providing optimal health care, access to strong networks, support services and education.
Rachael has worked with some of the most vulnerable people in our community. Providing advocacy and support in navigating and coordinating the NDIS, Disability Employment Services, Medical Services and Peer Support Networks.
Rachael has links within the extensive network of NDIS support providers across the Sunshine Coast as well as current knowledge of other mainstream options.
Having lived experience of accessing Autism and other support services for her own children over the last 17 years, Rachael can provide an extra layer of understanding to offer participants and their carers. Rachael can truly understand the magnitude of reaching milestones and enjoys celebrating each magnificent achievement with a participant, and their family.
Rachael's post graduate studies in Health Promotion, and Mental Health allow us to provide a well-rounded holistic approach to the services that we offer at Sunshine Sisterhood now and in the future.
Sharon, is a dedicated and compassionate Peer Support Worker with a dynamic approach to providing care and assistance to individuals in need. Sharon possesses lived experience with anxiety, depression and obsessive compulsive disorder which contributes to Sharon's genuine commitment to helping others. Sharon strives to create a positive and supportive environment where individuals feel valued and empowered.
Sharon has over 30 years of experience working in various support roles, including disability support, mental health recovery and personal growth and wellbeing. Through her diverse experiences, Sharon has honed her skills in communication, problem-solving, and empathy, allowing her to effectively meet the unique needs of each individual she supports.
Sharon's approach to support work is rooted in honesty, empathy, and authenticity. Sharon believes in building genuine connections with those she assists, listening attentively to their needs, and working collaboratively to find practical solutions. Sharon values open communication and strives to create a safe and inclusive space where individuals feel comfortable expressing themselves and advocating for their own well-being.
